In this session, families and groups are invited to remember the childhood songs that felt safe and cosy: the songs that were sung to you, and the songs you may have sung to your own children, or to the children in your life.
Together we will explore how our voice alone is often enough to create that space of intimacy and care that opens up when we sing to one another. For this, our starting point will be Victor Jara’s song ‘Luchin’.
To hold the meaning and the storytelling of these songs, participants will be invited to mark-make and collage on blank canvases, and to sing, sharing a song that feels like home.
About Javiera: Javiera Limarí (Chile, 1985) is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, educator and researcher based in London. She is a mother, textile artist and advocate for migrants and refugees. She is a founding member, singer and güiro player of Imperio Bamba, a band blending traditional chicha with psychedelic sounds, and is currently Curator of Creative Learning at the Mosaic Rooms.

'A Door to Experimentation' brings together three emerging artists who are expanding their practice from traditional folk music into experimental, collaborative and cross-disciplinary music-making. Throughout the residency, they are mentored by Patricia Doors, exploring new approaches to sound, performance and creative exchange.

Studio 12 is an intimate art space and bespoke cocktail bar in Camberwell rooted in transnational solidarities — dedicated to art, music, poetry and gathering.
