Conjuring is a monthly live improvisation series curated by Studio Njoku, and presented by Club Cheek.
It brings together leading experimental musicians for collaborative, improvised performances. The project foregrounds musical dialogue, community building and spiritual expression.
Each show features a unique lineup of musicians performing a one-time improvisation around a motif developed by Tony Njoku.
Cameron Picton is a guitarist and bassist who draws on American Primitivist, Brazilian and experimental musical forms. Previously of London prog group Black Midi, Picton is currently working on a new project, My New Band Believe.
Loraine James musical approach displays voracious musical curiosity and an exciting, peerless approach to making music. She has released several acclaimed records on Hyperdub.
Valentina Magaletti is a queer drummer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist who treats percussion as a political and poetic instrument—an unruly body that refuses straight lines, fixed identities, and normative rhythms. Her work dismantles the boundaries between noise, ritual, and music, transforming ceramics, found objects, and skin-based textures into tools for resistance.
Nkisi produces intense, powerful club tracks equally influenced by African polyrhythms, hardcore techno, and ’70s Italian horror films. Gravitating toward the more aggressive side of dance music, yet maintaining a heavy emotional factor as well as a sense of dreaminess.
