Film Screening - Save Our Heritage by Winstan Whitter
Tuesday, April 21, 2026 · 7:00 PM
Mildmay History Club is proud to host a screening of Winstan Whitter's film "Save Our Heritage".
This follow-up documentary to Legacy in the Dust by Winston Whitter continues to focus on Dalston's significant Four Aces Club—once a vital cultural hub for London’s Caribbean community and a cornerstone of Black British music and social life. Building on the story of its closure and demolition, the film explores the campaign to save 4-12 Dalston Lane and how the loss of such spaces reshaped the community.
Blending archival material with present-day voices, the film examines what remains, what has been lost, and how legacy endures beyond the physical landscape. It connects the fate of the Four Aces to ongoing struggles against gentrification, highlighting efforts to preserve cultural memory amid rapid urban change. It asks what it means to lose a place that held collective identity—and how that legacy survives in the people who refuse to let it be forgotten.
Join us for a special community screening followed by a Q&A with the director. Light refreshments will also be provided.
