South east London mainstay Joseph Futak teams up with New York based indie folk artist Pearla for an exciting evening of new music ahead of the release of her new album 'Song Room'.
Pearla's music touches on the bridge between what is real and surreal. Her first album 'Oh Glistening Onion, The Nighttime Is Coming' is a refreshing exploration of both the mysteries of the external universe and our place in it, whereas her new record 'Song Room' turns inward - reflecting on love and the bridges we share between people, and their ability to collapse and stretch time. While this new collection of songs marks a more introspective turn, they are undeniably of the same magical idiosyncratic DNA that runs through all of Pearla's songwriting.
Her music has been heralded on Pitchfork, NPR, Brooklyn Vegan and others, this is gig marks her London debut.
Joseph Futak is a London based producer and artist, who's music quietly bridges the space between reflection, nostalgia, grief and the other spectres of human experience. His album 'Walking The Sea Wall' has a bleary eyed softness to it that recalls the moments between wake and sleep, past and present. While producing for many of London's most exciting acts, Joseph is slowly working towards the follow up record - a collection of songs that push further the corners of what was explored on 'Walking The Sea Wall', and will be debuting new material as part of this gig.
They will be joined by Lilo, one of London's most striking folk duos. The songs of Helen Dixon and Christie Gardner contain a captivating intimacy that can only come from their 15 year friendship. Their eye on the world both external and internal has a timeless sensitivity that is unique to them. Their debut album ‘Blood Ties’ was released last year to critical aclaim.
