SONIDERA is a social event that platforms music from the Global South, articulating sonic discourse through carefully selected playlists and a safe environment for dancing and collective enjoyment.
The Horse Hospital opens its doors with a geographically rich playlist curated by record collector Tapacampeon all the way from Bolivia, focusing on cumbia as a unifying force of Latinamerican legacy
4 hours of specially selected hits, including old cumbias found only on vinyl, cumbias colombianas, cumbia mexicana poblana [distinct for its use of synths], as well as cumbia chicha from the Andes and the Amazon
FREE ENTRY 6pm-10pm
Juan Manuel Tapia aka Tapacampeon is a Bolivian DJ, vinyl collector and anthropologist whose work explores music as a form of cultural memory and identity. His selections are informed by ongoing archival research - especially on Bolivian music - and by a broad interest in sound from different parts of the world. He shares parts of his archive online and approaches contemporary and older recordings with the same curiosity.
