It’s time to scream. In ecstasy and agony, meaningfulness and meaninglessness, reaching and giving up.

From the Dada sound poems of the early 1900s to haunting AI glitches of today, In The Dark has been rummaging through the sound archives, bringing together radio, podcasts and audio art that explore the human voice. What happens to our voices when they become recorded sound? From engraving them onto wax cylinders to digitising and cloning, can we still find the spirit of play that first prompted us to press record, cut tape and see what we got?

This event is curated by In The Dark’s Sarah Frosh and Nina Garthwaite.

Sarah Frosh is a London based producer with a background in anthropology. Working across audio, research and music radio, Sarah’s drawn to the strange and unifying heart of what makes us human.

Nina Garthwaite is a multimedia artist whose work is deeply rooted in sound, with branches extending into the visual arts. Nina started In The Dark and she also teaches creative audio. She likes making weird things with silly people.
