Dirar Kalash Presents: Q(٤)artet
Saturday, March 21, 2026 · 7:30 PM
Artists
Roxanna AlBayati, Seán Being, Dirar Kalash, and Oliver Turvey convene together for the first time as a string quartet.
The evening will unfold across a series of movements. The past is the present and the present is the past. From here we will depart.
Roxanna Albayati is an Iranian-Iraqi interdisciplinary artist, researcher and music educator. Driven by embodied artistic research, her transcultural practice centres around combining experimental music with multilingual art forms and audio-visuals, where her music merges cross-cultural improvisation with Persian traditional music and the physicality of performance.
Seán Being is an Irish musician working across a range of modes of composition and performance. They work with site-specific solo performance through a variety of means—recently plainchant, feedback, pianos and car horns—thinking through spatial, social and historical bases of music performance.
Dirar Kalash is a musician and sound artist whose work spans a wide range of musical and sonic practices within a variety of instrumental, compositional and improvisational contexts.
Oliver Turvey is an artist working across sound and performance. A longtime member of the band Midlight, he also performs with Hilary Woods and Gabriel Ferrandini. `His practice sits at the intersection of site- and subject-specific improvisation and composition.
